Three of the most popular and current models that we have looked at so far are the MB200, MB4040 and the PG6025. The MB4040 in particular sells better than some of its more expensive competitors. The MB4040 has interchangeable blades to allow you to get even the most detailed goatee. The Remington company has been around for quite a long time and has gone through many changes in ownership and the products that it manufactures. It has also gone in and out of debt. None of these struggles discredits where they are today, seeing as they are one of the top companies for high quality at-home styling appliances.
Believe it or not, from the early to mid 1800’s, Remington began by producing firearms. It started out with a rather poor farmer who had his own forge and blacksmith shop (he built and repaired farm equipment) that needed a rifle and managed to make a gun barrel out of scrap metal. Those guns became very popular during the Civil War era for obvious reasons, and even after that they managed to stay afloat by producing sewing machines, lathes, burglar alarms, gasoline-powered engines, pill- and tablet-making machines, and typewriters. After some financial setbacks and a change of ownership to the typewriter company in the late 1880’s, Remington began making office equipment. Towards the mid-1930’s, Remington took a different direction and ventured into what we really care about; electric shavers.
This is what really started the company going. The first successful Remington shaver went on the market in 1931. Also in the same year, the company introduced the first dual-head shaver (the Remington Dual) and then the following year they launched their first multi-headed shaver (The Foursome). In 1955, Remington merged with another company that led it in the route of computers, though the Remington Shaver Division remained a part of it. Shortly after, in 1960, the cordless shaver surfaced (the Lektronic). From here on, they started making new models very quickly and very often. Unfortunately with so much more competition on the market, Remington started to fade away.
New ownership came along in 1979 by a man named Kiam. Shavers started becoming more affordable and the higher end ones were set apart by a larger difference in price. Kiam started starring in commercials for the company, and he became famous for his story of how he bought Remington. His wife bought him his first electric shaver. He used it, did some research, and came to the conclusion that Remington gave him the closest shave (good news for you!) He became famous for the catchphrase, “I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company!” The commercials skyrocketed sales throughout many countries. By 1992, Kiam was no longer the owner.
In the 90’s, it was time to venture into more branches of appliances, and the new Remington started making styling appliances for women, as well as ladies electric shavers. They now have two main divisions; Remington Shaving and Grooming, and Personal Care and Wellness. They are still very popular to this day and have maintained their high level of materials used, such as their self-sharpening, titanium coated blades in their shavers. Whether you want a quick shaving device to get the job done fast, or if you like to take a little extra time to create your signature look, Remington shavers definitely have what you need.
