It all began in when Gerard Philips and his father, Frederik established Philips & Co. in Eindhoven, the Netherlands in 1891. Shortly after, in 1894, Gerard’s talented younger brother joined the company and within a few years, Philips was part of the largest light bulb producers in the world. Not a bad place to start for the end of the 19th century. From here on out, Philips has been at the forefront of new innovations in lighting, medical/healthcare appliances, and consumer products. It’s astounding how vast their product range is, and how much it’s grown every year.
In the past century they’ve introduced and created countless household items in any category imaginable, such as home and car electronics (TV’s, iPod docks, head phones, car stereos and so much more), personal care items and small appliances (electric tooth brushes, electric shavers and trimmers, styling tools, scales and more), mother and child care products (bottles, baby monitors, skin care, soothers, toddler feeding and more), household products (coffee and espresso makers, air fryers, vacuum accessories and more), lighting and light bulbs of all kinds (LED bulbs, florescent tubes, bicycle lights, mood lighting, child’s lighting, lamp fixtures and tons more), computers and PC accessories (monitors, mice and keyboards, stereos, laptops, computer hardware, and anything else you can imagine for your computer), and accessories or attachments for any of the above items (toothbrush heads, cell phone accessories, remote controls, cables and more).
Impressive, no? Well this only covers the consumer end of their business. They are also extremely renowned for their contributions to the medical world. In 1918, Philips introduced a medical X-ray tube. This was the beginning of their near-century long involvement with medical equipment. They’ve created imaging systems, at-home healthcare, hospital to home units, and so much more.
It’s great to have a product from a company that’s so well rounded and so very successful in every branch of products they belong to. That’s why we reviewed so many of the Philips Norelco trimmers and shavers. Norelco is actually Philips’ brand name for personal care appliances in America. It started off just being “Norelco”, and is now known as “Philips Norelco” (as we see on all the trimmers we’ve reviewed). They are in the process of phasing out the Norelco name, as it was only made to compete with a similar sounding company name to “Philips” in the 1940’s.
One of the most highly rated Philips Norelco trimmers is their QC5570, a small hair and beard trimming unit, hitting an impressive 4.5/5 stars on Amazon. They use high quality blades and an innovative design for this trimmer to ensure you get a great, even shave with minimal effort and strain. This can be said for more than just this unit, as all the trimmers we reviewed from Philips Norelco have some of the highest ratings throughout any of our reviews. From overall trims to intricate, sharp styles, they have a unit for you.
